1957 Albert Stulz sr. started the success story of the medium-sized plastic manufacturer in Morsbach. The family business, in its third generation now, has proven for decades to be an expert in developing and manufacturing sophisticated plastic components. It all began with the production of technical injection molded household appliances. Due to highly-qualified mold-makers and plastics-experts, business could be rolled out to the phono- and automotive industry. Today, MONTAPLAST delivers high-end products with the highest quality level to all German premium manfacturers. We are the expert on precision composite systems.

1957

MONTAPLAST was founded under the name Presswerk Wessel & Co. in 1957. In May 1958, production started with the manufacture of technical injection molded parts, especially for the household appliance and household machine industry.

1960

Already in1960, high-quality and difficult plastic parts were manufactured for well-known companies such as Vorwerk, Ford, Philips and Daimler-Benz. This marked MONTAPLAST's entry into the automotive sector. In the following years, companies such as VW and Bosch were added, so that the existing production area could be significantly expanded.
1976

In 1976, MONTAPLAST, including its subsidiaries and branch plants, already had 60 injection molding machines with clamping forces ranging from 10 to 800 tons and 5 blow molding machines with clamping forces ranging from 0.5 to 50 liters. A conversion department with welding and milling special units, ultrasonic machines, hot stamping machines and an extensive painting facility are also already part of the production area. Approx. 300 employees work on a good 8,000 square meters.
1993

When in 1993 Montaplast of North America Inc. was founded in Kentucky USA, MONTAPLAST started a new expansion. Now there are several production plants and developing units all over the world, from Mexico to South Africa to Spain to Rumania. From 2006 to 2018 we founded several plants in China.
2017

MONTAPLAST´s innovative spirit was proven in 2017, when we opened Europe`s most advanced plastic parts paint shop. Thanks to constant improvement and our top professionals, it continues to be state-of-the-art.
2018

In 2018 we initiated our biggest project yet, by building a new production plant. With it we could fulfill the increasing demand and growth of past years at our headquarters in Morsbach (Lichtenberg). Designed as an independent production plant, this new construction site supplies workstations for 1,000 employees on 968,751 square feet.
2023

The German MONTAPLAST headquarters is home to more than 2,000 ZUKUNFTSFORMER in 2023. The US and Chinese production plants, with 1,000 employees each, follow next in our MONTAPLAST family of circa 4,500 people globally.
